The facilities at Mill Farm Stud were built during the summer of 2015, where the green pasture land was transformed into the working stud it is today. We have ten spacious, ventilated boxes that accommodate a mare of foal with ease. These boxes are fitted with CCTV so we can monitor our mares closely as the foaling time draws near. We also have a veterinary box we use for all stud work and assessing horses when required. There is a separate wash box for cleaning horses down. Built into the floor is a weighbridge which allows us to track the weights of growing foals.
We have an outdoor arena measuring at 50 metres by 25 metres. This provides an enclosed and safe area to working with our horses whether we are lungeing, long reining, riding away or even foal walking. Due to the length of the arena we can also school the horses over obstacles to teach them how to jump.
The farm is set within nearly 60 acres of grass land and allows us to have various sizes of turnout paddocks. This has proved invaluable when needing nursery paddocks for mares and young foals, as well as needing a good sized field for a group of weanlings. We have also been able to set aside some pasture to make our own hay.
The set up and facilities, alongside the staff at Mill Farm ensure the horses are looked after to the highest standard. Therefore Mill Farm Stud is the perfect operation and environment to breed and nurture thoroughbreds.
